The year was 1998 and a group of men were assembled by then head-coach Jim Scarcelli to
coach the Clintondale Dragon football team. The torch was passed from retiring varsity football coach, Bill Apsia. Throughout the years, the main nucleus of coaches has remained together to continue the winning ways of the Clintondale Football Program.
Now head coach and Clintondale alumni Dave Schindler leads the Dragons. To the credit of all those who have contributed are: over 117 varsity program wins, 15 playoff appearances (including three region appearances), 6 league championships, 3 district championships, 3 regional appearances, and many players sent to college to play football. With stats like that, the Dragon Program is one of the best in the tri-county area.
On another note, the coaches are still striving to do better in the future. The main goal of the football program is to win a state championship. However, equally as important are the efforts and emphasis to insure that all athletes do well academically. Win or lose, all that participate and embrace the experience leave better than when they entered.
